Slots Payouts

When looking at a slot machine whether online or at a land based casino, some people can get confused by the 'payout' schedule shown on the face of the slot. For example, if the paytable for a certain slot game shows that the top prize for hitting 3 of the same symbols on the pay line will pay 1600 coins, some players will believe that means they will win 1600$, that is only true if your playing a $1 slot machine and if the machine has two columns with 800 coins and 1600 coins in each spots that means if your playing '1' coin you win the 800 coins, if your playing '2' coins you will win the 1600 coins. But, if you are playing a 'quarter' machine and you have two columns on the pay table stating the same amount of coins for the same three symbols 800 and 1600, you will by no means win $800 or $1600. Why? Because the paytable shows you what you will win for 'coins' not cash. In order to find out how much cash those winning coins turn into, you have to go by the value of your coin bet.

Example: Slot Machine = Quarter Machine...Max coin bet = 3 coins [or 75 cents] each coin covers 1 paytable. So everything in the 1st pay table will be covered by coin bet #1, paytable #2 will be covered by betting 2 coins, paytable #3 will be covered by the 3rd coin. Now, if the prizes for those three columns look like this 200 - 400 - 800, this means when betting one quarter you will win 200 quarters which equals = $50. If betting 2 coins, then you would win 400 quarters which equals $100, and if you are wagering max bet at 3 coins you will win 800 quarters which equals $200.

This same idea goes for all coin denomination when playing slots. If you are betting 50 cent per line, the amount of coins you win will be 50 cent coins, so to determine you cash winnings you need to do the math, 200 coins multiplied by 50 cents equals what? $100! This way of thinking can be hard to get used to unless you are playing $1 slot machines, then its $1 for every coin you win, simple. But what about when you're high rolling and betting $5 per line bet? Say you win 200 coins on a $5 machine, what would your winnings be? Do the math, 200 coins times $5 equals = $1000! Just always remember to check what coin denomination a slot machine you're playing is, and how many coins you are betting so you can look at the paytable and see what winning combinations pay what and keep track of how much you have won or lose. Another good point is to check the pay out schedule on a slot machine. If you have two different slot games and one machines top prize pay 800 coins for a 3 coin bet, but the other machine pays 1600 coins for a 3 coin bet and they are both $1 machines, which one is the smarter choice to play? Always make informed decisions when picking a slot to play, they may be all luck to winning but, at least you can pick the game that pays the most if you do win!
